Why I'll be marching in DC on Saturday...
While we are now all locked into the political/social/cultural ramifications of a divided, if not blatantly fraudulent, US Election that has brought even more chaos to what has already been an unbelievably chaotic 2020, relationships are literally being lost over who will be the next Commander in Chief. Think about that for a minute.
Politics over Friends/Family?
Family members and lifelong friends are choosing to walk away because of political differences. Not let's talk it out or just agree to disagree. I mean the media has us so riled up, that some of us are willing to let those real, tangible, personal relationships go b/c they can't... no, they won't bother to see their "friend's" perspective. They choose to judge rather than understand and I think that is a large part of our problem in America right now.
They are literally choosing their "political identities" over relationships. They are choosing their political identities over family and even longtime friends.
Since when did politics become so personal? Maybe since mainstream media (MSM) made it that way.
As Melanie Green, Professor of Communication at Buffalo University points out, "Media companies have financial incentives to keep people engaged and enraged. Messages that are more emotional are more widely shared, thus people are more likely to see posts that fuel outrage toward the other side. Divisive content may also originate with trolls or disinformation campaigns intentionally designed to increase social division."
I've lost a few "friends" during this process as well.
These are people whom I trusted and supported over the years. These are people whom I really wouldn't have expected a difference in political opinion to get in the way of a personal relationship. But it has and I know I'm not the only one with conservative values who has been abandoned by some close liberal friends.
Is Don Lemon your friend?
It does make you wonder though. You see leftist influencers like Don Lemon who make comments like "I had to get rid of them" when referring to personal friends who happen to be Trump supporters.
In recent months, I've received heavy criticism for supporting President Donald Trump. A mere suggestion that I believe his policies have been good for America has drawn out the worst in some people.
Of course, I would expect that from the trolls on twitter and Facebook. That's certainly something I've grown used to since "The Calamity" early last year. Haters are going to hate. I get it. But this is something else.
I can't tell you how many times I've received tweets or fb posts claiming "I supported you after the Mayor threw you under the bus, but apparently you really are a damn racist after all!" This type of a reaction b/c of a shared post that was favorable towards Trump or conservative in thought. Wow!
"Orange Man Bad"
Is it really any wonder why though? I mean the MSM has done NOTHING but bombard us with claims that this guy is a really bad guy. He's unfit to be president. He's a sexist, He's homophobic, he's Islamophobic, he's greedy, he's a bully, He’s a flat out bigoted, racist, white supremacist.
In a nut shell, we have been groomed to believe that "The Orange Man is Bad". I mean talk about racism. lol.. sorry needed a humor break here.
You just type in "Trump is ____" and fill in the blank with the worst label you can put on a human being, and you will find it on google. In fact, depending on your political proclivity, google will do you the favor of bringing the most salacious, and divisive articles regardless of veracity right to the top of your search for you.
Does anyone else have a problem with this especially when so much of it can be proven contextually, if not completely factually untrue. Just think of how few of these accusations towards Trump actually existed prior to 2015/16 even though he had been in the spot light for decades already.
He's NOT the Divider
While going into every accusation that has been made by MSM would be way beyond the scope of this writing, it is certainly noteworthy to see some of the numbers rising out of the 2020 election that should do more than raise eyebrows.
According to exit polls, Trump increased votes from nearly EVERY minority demographic including the highest percentage of the black vote for a Republican Presidential Candidate since 1960. Say what? How can that be if indeed he is a bigoted, white supremacist?
To further this point, the only demo that he did worse in than 2016 was among, you guessed it, whites. The white vote dropped nearly 5% in Bidens favor during this election.
How is that for a racist? He literally gained from nearly every minority group, including from the gay/LGTBQ crowd in which they doubled their votes for him between 2016 and 2020.
But this isn't what MSM told you. They told you he was a racist. They told you he was homophobic. They told you he was a divider. What they told you was a LIE.
MSM Is Lying to You and Profiting From Those Lies
Take it from someone who knows a thing or two about being lied about in media. Take it from someone who was once called a "racist" for merely stumbling over words. Take it from someone who knows how the media loves to create controversy, to manipulate real news stories and perpetuate outrage... and they do it at our expense all the while padding their pockets with ad revenue generated by such nasty rhetoric and false narratives.
You see here, when it comes to DJT, we've all been lied to for four years. Never in American history has ANY US President been treated this badly by MSM. I know I don't have to tell you this, the VAST majority of all "news" regarding Trump in MSM is negative.
It's not just that MSM has decided to go all in on negativity on Trump. They've done it almost exclusively attacking his personality and character. Don't get me wrong, he can be rough around the edges. He's not always the greatest statesman. He puts his foot in his mouth quite frequently and he tends to exaggerate and say things that aren't always politically correct.
But isn't that why we elected him in 2016? Didn't we want someone who wasn't just ANOTHER politician? Didn't we want someone who was an outsider, who hasn't lived in DC most of his life? Someone who actually knows what it takes to succeed in real life America? Yes, of course we did.
Personality or Policy?
We hear all this negative news about his "personality". But what about what really matters? He campaigned on slogans like Make America Great Again. He promised to fix the economy, lower taxes, create jobs, reform healthcare, pull the US out of endless foreign wars, restructure international trade agreements, reduce illegal immigration and to build a wall. So, when he actually fulfilled MOST of these promises, why didn't we hear about that on MSM? These things that we voted for. These things that matter to the majority of Americans. Instead, all we heard was "Orange Man Bad".
Yet despite all the odds that have been stacked against him. Despite all the negative news, the faux outrage and false narratives, still more than 70 million Americans showed up at the polls to support him and they came from all demos. They were of all ethnicities. They were of all age groups and backgrounds. Despite what MSM has been screaming, as it turns out, he's not the divider they told you he was. He's is a uniter.
Now here we are. While so many of the lies that MSM has been feeding it's viewers over the last four years is now being exposed, so is the integrity of an entire US Election.
As Americans, we are taught to value MANY things. But chief among them are our rights as presribed by the US Constitution and the associated Bill of Rights as One Nation Under GOD.
"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
Of all the rights that we have fought and died for, arguably the most important, is the right to a free and fair election so that WE THE PEOPLE can continue to determine the path of "The American Experiment" and a democratic republic that until now, has been the greatest that the world has ever seen.
Regardless of your feelings towards Donald Trump, the integrity of the United States is at stake here.
Not the integrity of a politician or a political party, but that of a democratic republic that is and has been the envy of the world for the better part of two hundred years. If it's all the same to you, I would prefer to keep it that way.
So, to answer the question. Why will I be marching in Washington on Saturday? For love of this country, the integrity of the US Constitution and a respect for a man who has defied all odds to stand up for America and her core values of freedom, free markets, less government, less regulation, less division and more innovation, more integration, more collaboration and a hope for the future.
