Dan Dressel was 15 years old when the tornado struck Brandenburg.  He lost his father in that storm and nearly lost his mother and grandparents as well.  Here is his story.. 

On April 3, 1974 the Eastern US bore witness to the most violent outbreak of tornadoes ever recorded. It is a day that changed the course of weather history. 

Only a few days removed from a rare High Risk Day on Friday, the Storm Prediction Center is back with another MODERATE RISK today across parts of the MS Valley and an ENHANCED RISK for the day tomorrow over the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley.  

A dangerous severe weather episode appears probable across a large portion of the central states this afternoon into tonight with the possibility of long-track, strong to potentially violent tornadoes across a broad region..

A MODERATE RISK for flooding has been issued for the end of the week.  Where to expect locally a HALF FOOT of rainfall..
